Dunwoody Police Blotter Sept. 4-10: Professional designated drivers arrested for Marijuana

Professional designated drivers arrested for Marijuana

• Apparently, some designated drivers won’t stay sober even if you pay them.

Two men working their first shift for a designated driver non-profit were arrested on marijuana possession charges just after 3 a.m. Saturday. They were pulled over after they accidently drove down the wrong side of the separated exit/entrance at Ravinia Drive at Ashford Dunwoody Road.

The men were driving a Toyota Celica for a professional designated driving company, which is based in Marietta. When police pulled them over, they found five grams of marijuana inside the vehicle. WSB TV reported the two had a rolled up joint in the vehicle.

An 18-year-old Winston man and a 24-year-old Clermont, Fla. man were arrested just after 3 a.m. Saturday morning when they were spotted

WSB TV interviewed the owner of the company who was shocked by the incident, and fired to two brand new drivers immediately.

 

Knife pulled on police officer

• A 55-year-old Atlanta man pulled a knife on police officer Saturday afternoon after the officer approached the man, who had allegedly been urinating in a parking lot on the 4300 block of Ashford Dunwoody Road. The officer was able to subdue the man, who was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and indecent exposure.

 

Burglary

• A residence was reported burglarized on the morning of Sept. 5 on the 400 block of Asbury Commons. A set of tools, a Dewalt drill, a multimeter, a Playstation 3 and 15 Playstation games were reported stolen. The stolen items were valued at $2,500.

• A burglary was reported at a home on the 2800 block of Fontainebleau Drive between Sept. 4 and Sept. 5. Two large flat screen Samsung televisions, a DVD player, a Playstation 3, three laptop computers, $300 in cash and stereo equipment, among other items, were stolen. The total value of the stolen items was $7,134.

• A burglary attempt was reported at a residence on the 2300 block of Dunwoody Crossing on the evening of Sept. 6.

• A burglary was reported at a residence on the 4600 block of Chamblee Dunwoody Road on the night of Sept. 7. An Apple laptop worth $1,175 was reported stolen.

• An attempted burglary was reported at an apartment on the 2300 block at Dunwoody Crossing Saturday morning.

 

Theft

• An HP Touch Pad worth $266 was reported stolen from an office on the 100 block of Ravinia Drive on the night of Sept. 6.

• A Redline BMX worth $100 was reported stolen from outside a restaurant on the 100 block of Perimeter Center West on the afternoon of Sept. 7.

• A Goodman air conditioner valued at $2,000 was reported stolen from a building on the 4600 block of Peachtree Place Parkway on the afternoon of Sept. 8.

 

Mugging

• A man was mugged around 2 a.m. Saturday on the 4900 block of Winters Chapel Road. The thief stole $200 in cash, an identification card and a Samsung phone worth $75.

 

Pick pocketing

• A pick pocketing incident that occurred on the afternoon Sept. 3 was reported at the Perimeter Mall on Sept. 5. A man reported that his wallet worth $400, which included credit cards, $4 in cash and identification cards, was stolen.

 

Shoplifting

• A 30-year-old Morrow man was arrested on the afternoon of Sept. 4 for allegedly attempting to steal set of hair extensions from Wal-Mart, 4725 Ashford Dunwoody Rd.

• A 55-year-old Atlanta man was arrested on the evening of Sept. 4 for allegedly attempting to steal $181 in items from Target, 100 Perimeter Center Pl. Among the stolen items were Pampers, Wrangler jeans, a Wahl razor and toiletries, among other things.

• A 56-year-old Dunwoody woman was arrested on the night of Sept. 4 for allegedly trying to steal $51 in lawn equipment from Wal-Mart.

• A 38-year-old Smyrna man was arrested on the morning of Sept. 5 for allegedly attempting to steal a tube of toothpaste worth $2.34 from Exxon, 77 Perimeter Ctr. E. The man was arrested on charges of larceny, disorderly conduct and loitering.

• A 56-year-old Riverdale man was arrested on the afternoon of Sept. 6 for allegedly trying to steal $501 in clothing, sunglasses and cologne from Banana Republic, Abercrombie and Fitch and Vision Works at the Perimeter Mall.

• A juvenile male was arrested on the night of Sept. 7 at the Perimeter Mall for allegedly stealing $166 in clothing. A concerned citizen who had spotted the shoplifting suspect flagged police down. The juvenile suspect was located, police said, and after a brief foot pursuit, was arrested. He was charged with obstruction and released to this guardian.

• $15 worth of audio/visual recordings were reported stolen from Wal-Mart on the night of Sept. 9.

• $49.99 worth of clothing was reported stolen from a store at the Perimeter Mall on Saturday afternoon.

 

Vandalism

• A window was reported vandalized at Brook Run Park on the evening of Sept. 4. The window was valued at $200.

• A rear passenger side window was reported broken out of a vehicle parked on the 2400 block of Jett Ferry Road on the afternoon of Sept. 10.

 

Car theft

• A stolen 2003 Ford Econoline van was recovered in the early morning hours of Sept. 9 on the 4700 block of Chamblee Dunwoody Road.

 

Car break-ins

• A pair of sunglasses worth $15 and $15 in cash were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 1000 block of Potomac Road on the morning of Sept. 5.

• A Pioneer car stereo worth $150 was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 6700 block of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard on the night of Sept. 5.

• A purse and identification cards were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 2400 block of Dunwoody Crossing on the afternoon of Sept. 6

• A leather bag worth $15 was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 1400 block of Mount Vernon Road on the night of Sept. 6.

• A Hewlett Packard laptop computer worth $1,000 was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 5500 block of Mill Gate Court on the evening of Sept. 7.

• Two Levono laptop computers worth a total of $2,400 was reported stolen from vehicles on the 1000 block of Crown Pointe Parkway on the afternoon of Sept. 8.

• An Apple MacBook, an Apple iPod, a Blackberry phone, an Alltell messenger phone, a digital camera and a backpack were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 4500 block of Olde Perimeter Way on the night of Sept. 8. The total value of the stolen items was $2,495.

• Two Tumi briefcases, Revo sunglasses, a checkbook, two Apple iPads, a Flip HD camcorder, a Nikon S8100 camera, a Dell laptop computer and $400 in cash was reported stolen from a vehicle on the 4700 block of Ashford Dunwoody Road on the night of Sept. 8. The stolen items were valued at $5,000.

• A purple bag, a Kindle electronic book, a lunch bag, a silver ring, make up and an umbrella were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 5500 block of Chamblee Dunwoody Road on the afternoon of Sept. 9. The stolen items were valued at $1,050.

• A purse, $100 in cash and credit and identification cards were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 4700 block of Ashford Dunwoody Road in the early hours of Saturday.

• Clothing, a backpack and a hygiene bag were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 1200 block of Ashford Crossing Saturday night.

 

Soliciting

• A 45-year-old homeless man was arrested on the morning of Sept. 6 on the 100 block of Winters Chapel Road for soliciting and littering.

 

Forgery

• A 44-year-old Clarkston man was arrested on forgery charges at Best Buy, on the 1201 Hammond Dr., on the afternoon of Sept. 7.

 

Peeping Tom

• A peeping tom incident was reported at a store at the Perimeter Mall on the afternoon of Sept. 7. The suspect was not found.
