Dunwoody Police Blotter June 5 to June 12

This blotter is a collected from the daily crime reports posted online and crime news releases from the Dunwoody Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Burglary

• A total of $40,960 in coins, necklaces and diamond jewelry were reported stolen from a residence on the 5500 block of Stapleton Drive last Wednesday afternoon.

• Almost $11,500 worth in jewelry, electronics and luggage was reported stolen from a residence on the 4800 block of Ashford Dunwoody Road on the morning of June 7. According to the police report, $8,000 in jewelry, a Dell laptop, a Tumi laptop bag, an iPod Shuffle and a Samsung 26 inch flat-screen television were reported stolen.

• A burglary was reported on the afternoon of June 6 on the 2600 block of Fleur De Lis Place. Among the items reported stolen were a Toshiba computer, a silver necklace with earrings, a silver necklace with a round gold pendant and several more pieces of jewelry and several collectors folding knives. In total, there were $5,880 worth of items stolen.

• A Compaq Presario computer and two dining room chairs were reported stolen from a residence on the 1100 block of Ashford Parkway in the early hours of June 7. The items were valued at $790.

• An office was reported burglarized on the 1800 block of Independence Square on the morning of June 7. Four air-conditioning units were reported stolen. The four units were valued, in total, at $13,000.

• A burglary was reported on the 1500 block of Dunwoody Village Parkway last Wednesday afternoon. Nothing was reported stolen, according to the initial police report.

•A residence on the 1000 block of Ashford Parkway was reported burglarized last Friday afternoon. A 26-inch Sanyo television and a 32-inch Vizio television were reported stolen, valued at a total of $576.

• Two Samsung flat screen televisions, an Xbox and an Apple laptop were reported stolen from a residence on the 12300 block of Ashford Gables Drive early last Saturday. In total, the stolen items were valued at $3,200.

• A residence was reported burglarized Saturday morning on the 3000 block of Perimeter Trace East. Credit cards, $160 in cash, a TAG Heuer watch, a Louis Vuitton purse and wallet and a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses were reported stolen. In total, the stolen items were valued at $3,895.

 

Public indecency

• A 72-year-old Dunwoody man was arrested last Wednesday night after a neighbor saw him come out of his home several times and fondle himself with his pants down, according to police reports. The incidents occurred on the 1800 block of Trumbull Drive. The neighbor took photos and informed police. The man was arrested on public indecency charges.

 

Amphetamine possession

A 31-year-old Lawrenceville man was arrested for possession of amphetamines and bath salts on the 4400 block of Chamblee Dunwoody Road early Saturday. Police said it was the first arrest the department has made under the new bath salt (MDPV) schedule 1 drug law.

 

Assault

• A 43-year-old Atlanta woman was arrested after getting into an accident, then assaulting someone. According to the initial police report, the accident occurred on the 1000 block of Ashwood Parkway around 11 p.m. on June 5. The woman was arrested on misdemeanor charges of assault, DUI – endangering the life of a child while driving, following too close, reckless driving, duty to stop at an accident, DUI and cruelty toward a child.

• A 22-year-old Dunwoody man was arrested on the afternoon of June 6 on charges of family battery, cruelty toward a child and pointing a firearm at another. The incident occurred on the 2400 block of Dunwoody Crossing.

• A 29-year-old Dunwoody man was arrested on assault charges last Wednesday afternoon on the 100 block of Perimeter Center East.

 

Theft

• A 24-year-old Decatur man, an employee at Walmart, was arrested early June 6 for allegedly stealing $1,000 of property from the store.

• Six prescription pills were reported stolen from a mail package delivered on the 4900 block of Mill Brook Drive on the afternoon of June 7.

• Cash in the amount of $200 was reported stolen from a residence on the 6700 block of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard early last Wednesday morning.

• A Blackberry Playbook worth $499 was reported stolen from Best Buy around 1:30 a.m. last Thursday.

• A theft was reported at Walmart, 4725 Ashford Dunwoody Rd. on Friday evening. A $500 Walmart card was reported stolen.

• A wallet, $30 cash and credit cards were reported stolen from an office in Perimeter Mall last Friday morning.

• A Tiffany ring was reported stolen from a residence on the 6200 block of Dunwoody Gables Drive Saturday night. The ring was valued at $2,247.

 

Shoplifting

• A 27-year-old Atlanta man was arrested on the afternoon of June 6 for allegedly trying to steal a pair of Amethyst jean shorts from Marshall’s, 1131 Hammond Dr.

• A 35-year-old Atlanta man was arrested Friday afternoon for allegedly trying to steal a $234 Perry Ellis suit from Macy’s at Perimeter Mall.

• A 35-year-old Atlanta woman was arrested Saturday afternoon after she allegedly tried to steal two dresses, a tank top and a pair of earrings from Macy’s at Perimeter Mall. The total value of the items was $89.

 

Car break-in

• Several credit cards and $27 in cash were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 300 block of Perimeter Center North last Wednesday afternoon.

• An Apple iPad was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 100 block of Perimeter Center East last Friday evening. The iPad was valued at $880.

• An Alpine stereo and an Apple iPod were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 1200 block of Madison Drive Saturday night. The stolen items were valued at $900.

 

Vandalism

• A 32-inch Magnavox television was reported vandalized last Friday afternoon on the 4300 block of Peachford Circle. The television was valued at $450.
