Bank Heists Spreading in Atlanta's Northern Arc?

A suspected crew is wanted in several area robberies, including one on PNC Bank On Mt. Vernon Road

Dunwoody gets its share - more than its share - of bank robberies.

Well, the city is part of a recent "rash of the crimes," police say.

WXIA TV has called them the "dread gang," because some of then have a fondness for sporting dreadlocks.

The FBI and Atlanta Police authorities say these guys are a suspected crew that have pullled off a rash of heists and robberies.

It was believed by police to have started at Buckhead's Fifth Third Bank. Then they hit PNC Bank on Mt. Vernon Road Aug. 20, police say.

It didn't stop there. A BB&T branch got robbed in Marietta eight days after the PNC incident, police say.

FBI believe the crew may be connected to other similar heists. In fact, First Third Bank in Buckhead, the first apparent robbery, was robbed again, almost three weeks to the hour, according to the police report.

Most of the suspects are described as slim or medium built young males in their late teens or 20's, just under six feet tall.

The MO, in most cases, say police, is that at least one would-be robber leaps over a bank counter while brandishing a pistol.

The FBI has placed a billboard around town to help identify the suspects.
