Arrest Made in Marine's Murder

Zach Gamble, a graduate of Brandon Hall in Sandy Springs, died April 8 after being assaulted two weeks earlier outside a party in Smyrna.

A Mableton man was arrested Monday and charged with the murder Marine Zach Gamble outside a Smyrna party March 25.

Sean DGene Hall, 38, of the 5100 block of Huntscrest Drive was arrested at work in Cherokee County after more than a month of investigation into what happened to Gamble after he attended a friend’s birthday party at the the night of March 24.

Gamble, 34, was found lying in the parking lot of the apartment complex about 6 a.m. March 25 after a taxi hit him. The Brandon Hall graduate and veteran of two tours of duty in Iraq had suffered severe head trauma that had nothing to do with the accident with the cab.

Gamble, who lived in Acworth, spent the next two weeks unconscious at in Marietta before .

Gamble’s family urged police to solve his death and launched a Facebook page.

Police detectives now have determined that several people confronted Gamble in the Smyrna parking lot early March 25 after the birthday party, police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce said in a news release.

That confrontation resulted in Gamble’s fatal injuries.

Hall is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery and felony murder, plus a probation violation, and is being held without bond in the .

Gamble was a corporate planner and buyer for Uni-Select in Kennesaw. He served in the Marines from 2001 to 2005. He was a graduate of in Sandy Springs and Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis.
