Early morning crash shuts down 285

A 19-year-old male was killed this morning when his vehicle, traveling the wrong way on eastbound 285, was struck by a tractor trailer, according to police.

The accident happened around midnight on eastbound 285, near Ashford Dunwoody Road.

The man was heading west in the eastbound lanes of 285 and hit a tractor trailer in the middle lanes, police said. Both vehicles caught fire.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Dunwoody Police Spokesman Sgt. Mike Carlson said. The truck driver was not injured.

The crash shut down parts of 285 through the morning rush hour.
