Are you superstitious about the day?

Today’s Friday the 13th. Since you’re reading this, we’ll assume that you don’t have friggatriskaidekaphobia – people who have an irrational fear of the day.

So, here’s a little history on why 13 is considered an unlucky number and why it’s skipped on hotel floors, street addresses, etc.

According to numerologists, the number 12 has always been considered a number of completeness. After all, there’s twelve months in the year, twelve hours in the day, twelve tribes of Israel, twelve apostles – you get the picture.

Then there’s the story about Judas, the disciple who betrayed Jesus, who was the 13th guest at the Last Supper.

There’s also a legend that comes from Norse myth that having thirteen people seated at a table will result in the death of one of the diners.

If you are afraid of Friday the 13th, there's some bad news. Today isn't the only Friday the 13th coming up on the 2012 calendar. We'll also have to face a Friday in July that falls on the 13th.
