Five Things To Do This Weekend

A bat mitzvah exhibit at Marcus Jewish Community Center, Artsapalooza in Sandy Springs and a huge yard sale in Brookhaven.

Five Things to Do This Weekend is a weekly feature in Dunwoody Patch that rounds up the best events going on in and around Dunwoody. We sift through the long list of things competing for your time to bring you the best ones. Enjoy your weekend!

The city of Sandy Springs is holding an outdoor art fair - Artsapalooza - this weekend at the old Target center the city bought. The festival boasts 150 (mostly local) artists with craft and carnival attractions for the kids, gourmet food and live music. The art fair runs Saturday and Sunday near Johnson Ferry and Roswell roads. Check the link for hours. Oh yeah, it's free to get in.

Looking to stay out of the heat this weekend? You can stay inside and see "Bat Mitzvah Comes of Age" a traveling exhibit at the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta. The MJCCA exhibit focuses on how the coming-of-age ritual has changed to include girls in the last 90 years. It traces the stories of girls (and women) across Jewish groups and movements. The exhibit is from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Ready to take a look at other people's spring cleaning? Love garage sales? . It's going to have home furnishings and decor, applicances, toys, bikes, clothes - the usual. Plus the park and pool will be open to enjoy! The sale runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The Spruill Gallery is continuing its Emerging Artists exhibit Saturday. The gallery will showcase emerging local artists in printmaking, sculpture and other mediums. The exhibit runs 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and has drawn some good reviews for being a place to see "evolving" artists doing good work that hasn't hit Atlanta's gallery circuit yet. Here's your chance to see them before it's cool.

And finally, if you're looking for a show for the kids this weekend, you might want to try this: "." The family-friendly shadow puppet performance is presented by Wild Goose Chase Theater and is at the Dunwoody library.
