Dunwoody Nature Center fundraiser coming up

The popular "Monarchs and Margaritas" to be held at Glenridge Hall

The Dunwoody Nature Center is now selling tickets for its popular fundraiser “Monarchs and Margaritas” scheduled for April.

The annual event will be held in historic Glenridge Hall. The capacity is large, the venue can accommodate 175 guests, but organizers are predicting the event may sell out before it is held on April 21.

Part of the attraction of the event is a chance to take a step back in time and see Glenridge Hall, a private residence not open to the public located in Sandy Springs.

The home was built in 1929 and was the country, English Tudor-style home of Atlanta banker and businessman Thomas Glenn.

The event also attracts people through it auctions. There is a silent auction planned in the evening and a live auction called by Sen. Fran Millar.

Some interesting prizes are up for bid, including a round of golf at the Dunwoody Country Club with Mayor Mike Davis, and a hunting trip with Rep. Tom Taylor.

Other items are vacations in homes on Amelia Island and Lake Lanier and a handmade copper sculpture from David Dalrymple, a Dunwoody resident.

The event is the center’s biggest fundraiser, with proceeds supporting conservation efforts and educational programming throughout the year. The nature center serves 25,000 people each year.
