Friends of Brook Run Park Formed

The group says its mission is to protect the park's natural environment.

A “Friends of Brook Run Park” organization has been formed, whose mission statement is to preserve the park's natural environment.

According to The Crier, more than a dozen citizens attended the group's first meeting.

Brook Run Park has been a source of controversy for months. Local residents are concerned that the park's development will result in a massive loss of trees.

Central to the debate is how a city-proposed trail will impact the park. Plans now call for a concrete path to cut through some park woodlands.

Two citizens recently filed a restraining order against the city to halt development of the trail until the city completes a new hydrology report. A DeKalb County court will hear the case on Thursday, Jan. 31.

Art, What is 'your part'? Is it to prevent improvements to the park that will attract children and active recreation?

These folks are not friends of Brook Run. They are just the same old CAVE's (Citizens Against Virtually Everything). They are the red shirts and tea party people who want absolutely nothing to happen in our city. Don't fall for the new name for the same old people, same old ideas.

They are ones who care about their community enough to stand up to pathetic bullies! Rock on Brook runners!
