Dunwoody Girl Scout Committed to Green Environment

Lauren Liou created the "One Man's Trash" project for her Girl Scout Gold Award entry.

The Girl Scout Gold Award represents the highest achievement in Girl Scouting. Open only to girls in high school, this prestigious award challenges Girl Scouts to change the world—or at least their corner of it, and also be eligible for college scholarships.

Lauren Liou of Dunwoody, created the “One Man’s Trash” project for her Girl Scout Gold Award entry. Lauren’s project addressed the sustainability of the environment. Many people are unaware of the different ways there are to recycle and she inspired children to be creative and make their own artwork out of reusable materials. Upcycling, or making projects out of reusable material, is a growing trend and the coming generations should be exposed to the idea early on and make it a part of their lives. Everyone benefits if there is less waste being created.
