Anything Goes concerns the madcap antics aboard the ocean liner S.S. American bound from New York to London. Nightclub singer/evangelist Reno Sweeney is onboard and her pal Billy Crocker has stowed away to be near his love Hope Harcourt. Problems arise because Hope is engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. This love triange becomes more entangled with the antics of Public Enemy #13, Moonface Martin. With the help of some elaborate disguises, tap-dancing sailors and good old-fashioned blackmail, Reno and Martin join forces to help Billy in his quest to win Hope's heart.
