Growing Concern Over Rebuilding Austin Elementary

Residents want clarity on whether Austin Elementary will be rebuilt on its current site.Β 

That was the plan when voters approved a special purpose local option sales tax, a Dunwoody Crier story said. However now Stephen M. Wilkins, chief operating officer for Dekalb County Schools, says otherwise, according to the newspaper.

Wilkins informed a resident that the property does not meet construction requirements for a new school.

Interim school superintendent Michael Thurmond told the newspaper that school board plans for rebuilding Austin Elementary have not changed.

The issue is now on the agenda of the next school board meeting.Β
