Christmas Trees to be Collected Curbside

DeKalb County Sanitation and Allied Waste will accept Christmas trees.

DeKalb County Sanitation and Allied Waste will accept Christmas trees.

The county asks that trees be cut into sections no more than four feet long. Trees will be picked up on the regular yard debris day. They will be ground into wood chips and used on county projects. DeKalb residents can pick up a free share of the wood chips at Northern Avenue and Memorial Drive, where the county puts compost and wood chips in massive self-serve piles.

Allied Waste, known in some places as Republic Services, also accept trees, wrapping paper and cards for recycling. Their normal service will be delayed a day during the week of Dec. 26.

Alternatively, trees can be dropped off at the Home Depot at 4343 Tilly Mill Road from Jan. 2 to Jan. 7, where they will also be ground into mulch for public projects.
