You Like Bowling? Stars and Strikes is a Good Time

Stars and Strikes Family Entertainment and Bowling Alley has opened as a destination spot, nearby Dunwoody.

So much is interesting and exciting about Stars and Strikes Family Entertainment and Bowling Alley at North Ridge Shopping Center.

Let's start with the interesting. What made the owners decide on the desolate shopping center at Roswell Road and Dunwoody Place as their new location?

Sandy Springs is the fifth location for Stars and Strikes. There are bowling alleys in Cumming, Lawrenceville, Dallas and Stone Mountain. This particular location is perfect as a destination place, said co-owner Chris Albano. Roswell is a half-mile away, East Cobb - a few miles, Alpharetta is only two exits.

"Everything came together with this spot," Albano said. Along with a relatively good price, Albano said there were beneficial aspects to the 53,000 square foot building such as sound barrier pillows in the ceiling that drown out the sound of the pins being knocked down.

What's notable and exciting about Stars and Strikes is the focus on customer service. The staff appears to be about you having a good time, be it through bowling, food or fun games.

In addition to bowling on either the VIP glowing lanes or in the 20-lanes area, there's an arcade, laser tag, laser maze, and 710 Grille restaurant where Albano says live music will eventually be featured.

When Patch visited we played on the VIP lanes, had the Margherita pizza with a mound of freshly shredded mozzarella; fresh basil and roma tomatoes before baking in a wood stone brick oven. And a signature cocktail, the Strike-a-Rita, with Patron, Grand Marnier, Agave nectar and lime juice.

Bartender Melissa Wilson also recommends the Georgia Peach Mojito, made with Bacardi, Peach Schnapps, soda, fresh mint and syrup.

Things to know

  • General Manager Adam Clark said at full staff the location employs about 90 people and currently they are at 80.
  • Sign-up has started for a start-up league, which begins in February.
  • The lanes are open until 2 a.m. on weekends.
  • Two Sandy Springs police officers work at the location on weekends.
