Wal-Mart to Begin Construction on Winters Chapel Road

The site is being cleared for a "neighborhood market" concept on Winters Chapel Road.

Wal-Mart representatives say that the company has begun to clear the site on Winters Chapel Road where they will build one of the company's new "neighborhood markets."

Dunwoody and a site in Tucker are both being cleared as part of a recent expansion of the Bentonville, Arkansas-based chain in the Atlanta area.

Alpharetta, Lawrenceville and Snellville have recently opened the "neighborhood market" stores, which is a smaller footprint than the super centers and is designed as a way to get in and out easier.

Two of the markets are currenty being constructed in Marietta. The seven store expansion will bring 650 jobs to the metro area, according to company officials.

Buckhead and Decatur are also working with Wal-Mart on stores on thise areas.
