Online Voting Open for Diverging Diamond Interchange Award Through Oct. 2

The Ashford Dunwoody Diverging Diamond Interchange is a finalist in an America's Transportation Awards competition. The City of Dunwoody provided support for the project, which opened to crossover traffic in June 2012.

Dunwoody area residents, employees and visitors are being asked to vote for the Ashford Dunwoody Diverging Diamond Interchange, for a People’s Choice Award in America’s Transportation Awards competition.

The DDI is one of 10 finalists for the award. 

During Monday’s City Council meeting, Yvonne Williams, CEO of the Perimeter Community Improvement Districts said the DDI is building the Perimeter area and Dunwoody’s reputation and brand. “Now it’s known as the hot project in metro Atlanta,” she said.

The People’s Choice Award will be decided by popular vote. Voting runs through Oct, 2. You can vote up to 10 times a day for their favorite project. To vote, visit www.americastransportationawards.org and click on VOTE NOW. 

The DDI I-285 and Ashford Dunwoody Road DDI was initiated by the PCIDs to improve traffic congestion and safety in the busy interchange. The PCIDs secured the funding from the State Road and Tollway Authority and DeKalb County for the engineering and design and the Georgia Department of Transportation funded the $4.6 million construction contract. The City of Dunwoody provided support for the project, which opened to crossover traffic in early June 2012.
