New Tex-Mex Restaurant Opens in the Perimeter

Chuy's, an Austin-based chain, will open its first Georgia location Tuesday

Chuy’s, an Austin, Texas-based restaurant chain, is opening its first Georgia restaurant Tuesday in Dunwoody.

The restaurant chain, which started in 1982, specializes in Tex-Mex food.

The new location is at 118 Perimeter Center W. Doors will open at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

“I’m eager to introduce Chuy’s food and personality to Atlantans,” said John Mountford, local owner and operator for the new Chuy’s at Perimeter, in a press release. “Atlanta is a city known for its discernable taste, and I look forward to bringing locals a unique Tex-Mex dining experience unlike any they have seen before with quality ingredients at affordable prices.”  

The menu will feature made from scratch food, including signature dishes like the Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom Enchiladas, Stuffed Chile Rellenos, the Elvis Green Chile Fried Chicken and “Big As Yo’ Face” Burritos.

The company says the dishes were are inspired by traditional family recipes from south Texas, New Mexico and Mexican border towns. Customers can see watch as flour, corn and blue corn tortillas are prepared daily by experts on the authentic comal.

According to the company, the Perimeter Chuy’s will also have a relationship with Camp Sunshine, which provides programs throughout the year to give children with cancer the opportunity to enjoy normal activities like swimming, horseback riding, arts and crafts and making friends.

There is a happy hour Fully-Loaded Nacho Car, which serves up complimentary chips, salsa, queso, ground sirloin and more every Monday through Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
