Spanx founder Sara Blakely is one of eight Georgians on Forbes magazine's 2014 list of the world's billionaires.

Eight of the world’s richest people are Georgians.

Forbes magazine’s 2014 list of the world’s billionaires includes Georgia residents who made their fortunes in media, home improvement and women’s underwear. 

The Atlanta Business Chronicle has sifted through the list to find locals on it. They are:

  • Anne Cox Chambers, 94, the daughter of James M. Cox, who built Cox Enterprises Inc., is No. 58 on the list with an estimated net worth of $15.5 billion.
  • James Kennedy, 66, the nephew of Cox Chambers, is No. 168 on the list with an estimated net worth of $7.7 billion.
  • Chick-fil-A Inc. founder S. Truett Cathy, 92, is No. 224 with an estimated net worth of $6.2 billion.
  • Bernie Marcus, 84, co-founder of The Home Depot, is No. 446 with an estimated net worth of $3.5 billion.
  • Media mogul and philanthropist Ted Turner, 75, is No. 796 with an estimated net worth of $2.2 billion.
  • Jeffrey Lorberbaum, 59, chairman and chief executive officer of carpet and flooring giant Mohawk Industries Inc. is listed at No. 1,046 with an estimated net worth of $1.7 billion.
  • Shapewear Spanx founder Sara Blakely, 43, made the list at No. 1,565 with a net worth estimated at $1 billion.
