Dog Park Folks Step Up to Help Desperate Dogs

As president of the Brook Run Dog Park Association, Inc., I have witnessed numerous acts of kindness from the hundreds of people who frequent the off-leash park. This past weekend brought tears to my eyes.

On Sunday, about noon, I posted a notice on the dog park's Facebook page about the fact that the Barrow Co. Animal Shelter was running out of dog food and that I would take any donations up there this week. In less than three hours, one of my Board members called to tell me that our tool shed was packed with food!!

I've attached a photo of the tool shed as I found it when I arrived. And the second photo is of the trunk of my car, so full of donated food that I had to put some food in my back seat. (I drive a Lincoln, which has a huge trunk -- Mafia-approved for two adult bodies!)

This sort of response is not unusual among our dog park folks. I cannot count the number of times they have stepped up to help when there is a dog in need. We have such great people in this dog park, and it's a shame the city persists in ignoring the wishes of hundreds of dedicated supporters in its compulsion to move and shrink the off-leash park.
