Chick-Fil-A Owner in California Distancing Himself from Company's Politics

A letter posted on the Hollywood, Calif. Chick-fil-A's Facebook page said that company doesn't speak for owners.

A Chick-fil-A franchise owner in California is publicizing that customers can enjoy his restaurant regardless of "belief, race creed, sexual orientation or gender," according to Huffington Post.

The owner of the Hollywood, Calif. restaurant distanced himself in a letter from recent publicity about Chik-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy who has made controversial comments about his stance against gay marriage, said the report.

An excerpt from the letter:

I know that some of our guests are upset by comments made by Dan Cathy, president of Chick-fil-A Inc. He has made it very clear to me those were his personal views, and that his intent was not to speak on the behalf of every Chick-fil-A owner.

The letter was publicized on the resturant's Facebook page and Twitter, and more than 2,500 people had liked the Facebook post shortly after it was posted.

The comments on the letter have been mixed, with some saying that the franchise owner should be trying to make changes in the corpoarte structure of the restaurant.

Jordan Grant commented on the Facebook page, saying, "Honestly, I think this whole mess, that's all I can say it is, is a beneficial thing for those involved, its certainly drawing the lines in the sand of who supports what. It has people talking about an issue that..in all honesty, should have been solved in the 80s."
