Dunwoody Parodied in a New Rap Video

'Straight Outta Dunwoody' lampoons life in Atlanta suburb

Compton, Brooklyn, the South Bronx, Dunwoody.

Sunday on YouTube, Dunwoody joined the ranks of cities and neighborhoods etched into history with their own rap songs.

Dunwoody's safe streets, soccer moms and shopping malls are targeted in the new video 'Straight Outta Dunwoody', which was released online Sunday night by the group Dormtainment, which produces comedy videos.

The song, a nod to N.W.A.’s Straight Outta Compton, lampoons suburban life in Dunwoody.

In the video, six men walk the streets of Dunwoody, wearing sweaters wrapped around their shoulders, with rhymes like "I'm a big deal like my name is Sasquatch, president of my neighborhood crime watch," and "When it gets dark, I walk briskly. I invest in stocks because I'm risky."

Since it was posted at 7 p.m. on Sunday night, it has already gotten more than 18,000 views.

Thanks for sharing this. It's good to be poked fun of...especially since Dunwoody can can at times take itself too seriously.

Awesome. I left Dunwoody because it had no strong culture or identity, well at least one I resonated with. Great video guys!

This is stereotyping - something I abhor.
Dunwoody! October 03, 2011 at 09:30 PM
so, Paula, I guess you avoid movies, prime-time tv, comedy in general, etc...but don't be fooled, stereotypes can be real.

I love it! It just proves that cursing, big chains, gold teeth and low pants aren't required for a rap song to be successful.
Kelly Castleberry October 04, 2011 at 12:58 PM
No one noticed that it was filmed in Sandy Springs?
dunwoodydad October 04, 2011 at 03:18 PM

Jonathan Cribbs October 05, 2011 at 06:15 PM
Wait. Are you offended because the video stereotypes Dunwoody residents as comically conscientious civic stewards?
