'Taste of Mexico' Brings South of the Border Flavor to DeKalb

Kroger to host its first-ever "Taste of Mexico" celebration June 4 – 24.

Patch Staff Report

Salsa has outsold ketchup for 20 years. Tortillas outsell hotdog buns and hamburger buns. And “Regional Mexican foods” ranked as the No. 4 most popular food trend for 2014 by Campbell’s Culinary and Baking Institute.

Whether it’s spice, sizzle, crunch or cool they crave, Americans love their Mexican foods. And Kroger will help satisfy those cravings as it hosts its first-ever “Taste of Mexico” celebration June 4 – 24 in all of the Atlanta Division’s 183 retail stores across Georgia, Eastern Alabama and South Carolina.

The Kroger at 3240 S. Cobb Drive in Smyrna will also host the folkloric ballet ensemble Ballet Folklórico de México on June 7 from 12 – 2:45 p.m.

“Casual and more formal Mexican cuisine continues to grow in popularity in the communities we serve,” Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Kroger’s Atlanta Division, said in a news release. “Through ‘Taste of Mexico,’ we can help our customers expand their ability to prepare flavorful dishes that will be very popular with their families, friends and co-workers. We are looking forward to a great turn-out.”
