Five Things to Do This Weekend (March 11-13)

Purim celebrations, sales, Boy Scout Fundraisers and a class on Churchill

Welcome to "Five Things You Need to Know for the Weekend," a Dunwoody Patch column that sifts through the long list of events competing for your time to offer our pick of five things worth doing with your time off.

1. Celebrate Purim at the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta.

Families and children are invited to the Family Masquerade Dance Party from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the center.

Attendees are invited to dress up and dance, there will be music, a costume contest and prizes, as well as food. Tickets are $5 per person and RSVPs are recommended.

 2 Support the Scouts. Boy Scout Troop 403 is putting on its Saturday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Winters Chapel united Methodist Church. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for children. There will be carry out service from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

 3. Learn about Churchill. The at Dunwoody Tavern Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. about Winston Churchill’s actions during the World War I Dardanells/Gallipoli debacle. A Churchill scholar will be delving into the issue and says the event was much more complicated than is generally thought. The event is open to all.

4. Buy something at the Rhea Lana Spring Event Consignment sale at Ashford Place Shopping Center, which runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. For more information, .

 5. Get a glimpse at the preschools at the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta.

Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., there will be an open house for the pre schools at the center. The event is free and open to the community.  For more information, .
