Five Things to Do This Weekend

Celebrate St. Paddy's Day, pick a summer camp for the kids, or donate a prom dress

Welcome to "Five Things to Do This Weekend," a Dunwoody Patch column that sifts through the long list of events competing for your time to offer our pick of five things worth doing with your time off.

Please email jasonmassad@gmail.com with any tips for this weekly feature. We'll  get your event announcements on our page and some will be featured in this column.

1. Head out to the Dunwoody Tavern on Saturday for food, fun and maybe a little college basketball. The tavern has televisions out on a patio that's open when the weather cooperates. And it should this weekend. The chef prepares a special menu for St. Paddy's Day, and the bar has 16 different import and craft beers and a wide selection of Scotch. Celebrants should arrive early for the best spots. The place is expected to fill up early. The Derby also has a traditional menu for St. Paddy's Day. Be sure and wear green.

2. It’s about that time for kids to decide where they are going to go for summer camp. On Saturday, at Perimeter Mall, everyone will be under one roof. Kids and their parents can meet camp directors, gather brochures of information and view camp videos. A variety of camps will be there – including academic, adventure, arts, computers, horseback riding, science and sports. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.

3. from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The informational sessions, which will be in English, Spanish and Portugese, include preparing healthy food on a budget, breast health care, chiropractic and dieting and nutrition. The event is open to all women in Dunwoody and Sandy Springs and is located at 5676 Roberts Drive.

4. Saturday is also . The weekly story time in Dunwoody is geared toward children who are five years old and younger.

5. Donate a dress for someone to use for their prom. The Macy's at Perimeter Mall will be taking donated, gently-used dresses Saturday. Make a girl's prom dream come true. The prom or formal dress will go to Becca's Closet, a local DonateMyDress.org chapter.
