Five Things to Do This Weekend

Father's Day weekend is packed with things to do.

Welcome to "Five Things You Need to Know for the Weekend," a Dunwoody Patch column that sifts through the long list of events competing for your time to offer our pick of five things worth doing with your time off.

1. Saturday, June 18th, is the first-ever  Sweetwater Adventure Fest. , 227 Sandy Springs Pl NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Sweetwater Adventure Fest will be the only place in town where you can kick back and relax, chow down on some finger-licking bbq, drink some cold Sweetwater brews, play a little  corn hole or go fishing and jam to the Yacht Rock as Uno Dos Tres Catorce at 7:00 pm followed by the REMakes at 9:30 pm!

2. Dunwoody Cycling: On the Dark Side. This is a 35 mile, very strenuously paced,  "Hang or be Dropped" ride that starts at Dunwoody High School, 5035 Vermack Rd, Atlanta, GA 30338. Weekly on Saturdays. 5:30am. Website: http://www.dunwoodycycling.com. Email: rides@dunwoodycycling.com.

3. Join Men's Health and Wellness and ZERO - The Project to End Prostate Cancer for the Dash4Dad. Saturday, June 18.

This is the second annual 5K Run/1 Mile Walk to defeat prostate cancer. Pre-registered participants will receive a premium cotton commemorative t-shirt, and an assortment of goods and coupons. The race packet/number pick up location for pre-registered participants will be on June 17 from 10am till 2pm in front of the Home Depot.

Race Day registration and packet pick-up will take place at the starting area beginning at 6:30am. (Cash and checks only.)

4. Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar is treating dads to a special three-course Father’s Day brunch menu available from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The brunch price is $32.95 for adults (plus tax and gratuity) and a children’s menu is also available.  The restaurant is also offering the “Buttoned-Down” specialty cocktail made with Jack Daniel’s Whiskey, freshly squeezed lemon juice, maple syrup and a dash of bitters for $6.95.  Dads who celebrate at Fleming’s on Father’s Day will also receive a $25 gift card.  Reservations are strongly recommended.  Fleming’s is located at 4501 Olde Perimeter Way; 770-698-8112.

5. Enjoy live jazz featuring Chandra Currely in Villa Christina's garden. Music begins at 5:30 p.m. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs for comfortable seating. Food the whole family will enjoy will be available for purchase. Children are welcome and will enjoy free activities including a moonwalk and face painting. There will also be exhibitors showcasing handmade jewelry, original artwork and more for purchase.
