We know it’s bad for our waistlines and arteries, but few of us have the willpower to stay away from junk food day in and day out. Does a chocolate-covered strawberry count as healthy?

What’s your go-to junk food? Smothered hash browns at Waffle House, Moon Pies, or Stuckey’s pecan rolls, which originated in Georgia?

Whether you crave sweets or salty chips and fries, you likely have a favorite snack that falls into the "junk food" category. The average American eats about 25 pounds of candy each year, reports WTOP and about 45 slices of pizza in a year.  

A nutrionist blogged on The Huffington Post that it’s OK to occasionally indulge in junk food. She suggests that you splurge on what is a favorite “bad” food and be sure that you retain the memory of the treat – savor it.
