Septic System Preservation (Especially During Wet Weather)

Wet weather can cause problems for your septic system. Excessive water prohibits the soil in the drainfield from naturally cleansing the wastewater. This can lead to septic failures. Action Septic Tank Service recommends the following tips to help.

Limit your water usage during periods of wet weather. Run your down spouts away from the drainfield area. This helps control the amount of water pouring onto the drainfield. Check that your plumbing is running as it should and that you don't hear any gurgling noises or smell any sewage odors. Schedule annual inspections to make sure your septic system is properly running. Have your septic tank pumped every 2-3 years.
