Dunwoody Mayor Mike Davis has a strategy to make Dunwody a magnet for the sport of tennis.
First, raise the Dunwoody hotel tax to 8 percent and then use the extra funds to build a sports complex at the former GoldKist building on Perimeter Center West, according to Real Estate Bisnow.
Davis told the publication of his vision for 20 tennis courts and top-seeded players on the 15-acre site. With MARTA and Perimter hotels and restaurants nearby, he thinks it's idea.
Potential investors have toured the site for a possible multi-family housing unit, the Bisnow story said.

interesting--Blackburn Park was the first choice for the Olympic Tennis Center but was blown out (rightfully so) by neighborhood interests. Of course, who knows how vibrant that village intersection would be right now.
One thing though--does a city that bills itself as "Smart People/Smart Business" really need any more cachet?
