Dunwoody Red Mango Closes its Doors

Dunwoody Frozen Yogurt shop management says sales didn't hit the mark

Red Mango in the Dunwoody Hall Shopping center has closed its doors.

The store opened in September 2010, with a grand re-opening in April.

Sunday, the store was shut down, because sales were lagging.

"Unfortunately, we regret to inform you the store will be closing," said a message on the story's front door and Facebook Page. "As our sales have continually dropped, the reality is we cannot continue to operate and provide the same level of service and quality that we strive for and set as our standard."

The store is located in the Dunwoody Hall Shopping Center, next to Publix and Moe's.

Red Mango was among several self-serve frozen yogurt shops that opened in Dunwoody over the last two years. Yoforia and Yogli Mogli also have Dunwoody-area locations.

The store had been a supporter of several Dunwoody teams and clubs.

"This has not been an easy decision for us as we have gotten to know our Dunwoody fans and have enjoyed being sponsors for DHS Football, DHS Softball, DHS Volleyball and many other Dunwoody teams & organizations," the Facebook message said. "Thank you to our loyal patrons. It has truly been a pleasure serving Dunwoody."

You'd think it would be obvious that local governments, entities, etc would use local businesses first but that isn't the case. Why? Serious question... even when there is a huge push to "shop small" and "shop local" the message doesn't always get through. Why not?

BTW - Taste of Dunwoody is coming February 3 (need to get my corp. sponsor paperwork in for that) and the Greater Perimeter Business Expo (a joint effort of the Sandy Springs and Dunwoody Chambers of Commerce) will be happening on June 1. Plenty of opportunities to meet our local business people (aka - your neighbors) up close and personal.
