Painter Mistaken for Burglar

The man climbed in a window near Warnock Cottage on Mt. Vernon Road and squared off with officers.

A reader wrote in recently wondering what was going on Thursday when he saw multiple Dunwoody Police cars on Mt. Vernon Road during the morning commute hours.

Turned out it was a scary incident with a happy ending. Dunwoody officers responded to what was called in as a burglary at the Warnock Cottage area near Mt. Vernon and Vernon Lakes Drives.

The readers reported that it looked like a suspect was pinned down on the front porch around 9 a.m.

Prior to that, a resident called in that a man had crawled in a window into a house. About five Dunwoody patrol units units responded to the call and surrounded the house.

Turned out it was a painter hired by a homeowner who had forgot a key, according to Dunwoody Police. There was no arrest in the incident.

Neighborhood Watch occasionally snags a lawful citizen, no harm, no foul.

Seeing anyone gaining second story residential access is a good reason to dial 911, you should love Dunwoody!
