Thief Finds Puppy Love, Steals $1,800 Maltese from Petland

Apparently the pooch was so adorable he had to steal it.

Dunwoody Police are searching for a man who stole a white Maltese puppy from Petland Sunday afternoon.

Around 1 p.m. Sunday, the man walked into Petland, asked to see the puppy in one of the store's pet and play areas. He then grabbed the dog and ran out of the store with the $1,800 pup.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 6'3" tall with tattoos on his neck and hands. He was wearing a hoodie and hopped into a waiting black compact car, police said.

The car fled north on Ashford Dunwoody Road.

The puppy has a chip in it and that chip number was put into the national database as stolen, police said.

Police did find his cell phone at the scene. No arrest has been made yet.
