Thief Finds Puppy Love, Steals $1,800 Maltese from Petland
Puppy stolen Sunday afternoon
Apparently the pooch was so adorable he had to steal it.
Dunwoody Police are searching for a man who stole a white Maltese puppy from Petland Sunday afternoon.
Around 1 p.m. Sunday, the man walked into Petland, asked to see the puppy in one of the store's pet and play areas. He then grabbed the dog and ran out of the store with the $1,800 pup.
The suspect is described as a black male, about 6'3" tall with tattoos on his neck and hands. He was wearing a hoodie and hopped into a waiting black compact car, police said.
The car fled north on Ashford Dunwoody Road.
The puppy has a chip in it and that chip number was put into the national database as stolen, police said.
Police did find his cell phone at the scene. No arrest has been made yet.

$1,800? You are CRAZY if you pay Petland that much money for a dog. You can go to a reputable breeder and get a show quality, healthy (not puppy mill bred) dog for that much or a lot less. People don't support these stores that get their dogs stocked from puppy mills. As for the thief, what are you thinking? They have your cell phone.

That's what Petland gets for selling dogs that are most likely acquired from puppy mills.
They should follow in the steps of most other pet store competitors and only offer pets on an adoption basis for dogs and cats that truly need a home. Get with the times!!!

Petland needs to fix their security or store policy of pets being handled by customers and things like this wouldn't happen, and is this chip not GPS capable? Should lead you right to the little fellow I don't know that much about chips but it should be capable of GPS monitoring.

Good for him! Petland has a horrible reputation for their care of animals, and they also support puppy mills and overcharge! Hopefully this pup will find itself in a loving home and never find itself in Petland again!!
