July 4th Dunk Tank Raises $500 for Families of Fallen Soldiers

Money raised goes to Special Operations Warrior Foundation

The dunk tank at Dunwoody's July 4th Parade Monday raised $500 for theΒ Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which provides full scholarships, as well as educational and family counseling to the survivors of special operations personnel who die during missions.

The organization also provides financial assistance to the families of severely wounded special ops personnel.

Bill Grossman, head of the Dunwoody Homeowners Association, said the dunk tank raised about $6 a minute in 80 minutes. The dunk tank featured City Councilmen Doug Thompson, Robert Wittenstein and John Heneghan; mayoral candidates Bob Dallas and Mike Davis; DeKalb School Board Member Nancy Jester; Elaine Boyer's Chief of Staff – Bob Lundsten; and frequent city council critic and open records advocate Joe Hirsch.
