• EARTH DAY FAMILY CAMPOUT

When/Where: 6 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday at Dunwoody Nature Center, 5343 Roberts Dr.

Why go: Bring your tent and sleeping bags for Earth Day at Dunwoody Nature Center. DNC has partnered with the National Park Service at for a night of education and camping at Jones Bridge. A  NPS Park Ranger will provide an evening program and access to special locations and DNC will provide a continental breakfast.

• 5K CHARITY RUN

When/Where: 8 a.m. Saturday at Georgia Perimeter College- Dunwoody

Why go: Georgia Perimeter College Dunwoody Spanish Club is holding a 5K charity run. All proceeds go to PAWS Atlanta; a no-kill animal shelter. Participants will receive a t-shirt and each age group will be awarded 1st, 2nd & 3rd place medals.

How much: Register online until 9 p.m. on Thursday or the morning of the race, $20 registration fee

• HEART SCREENING FOR TEENS

When/Where: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, Harry Norman, 4848 Ashford Dunwoody Rd
Why go: Heart Screens for Teens is an organization raising awareness of and providing high quality medical screening for detection of potentially fatal heart conditions in teens.  These conditions, such as Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy which is the leading cause of sudden cardiac death in teenagers, cannot be detected during a regular physical. The exam utilizes a non-invasive ultrasound and takes about 10-15 minutes.

• CHILDREN’S STORYTIME

When/Where: 11 a.m. Saturday at Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 120 Perimeter Center West Ste 300
Why go: Ages 0 to 5 can enjoy stories and crafting. Books and crafts change each week.

How much: Free.

• CHILDREN’S SILHOUETTES

When/Where:  10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Friday at Cutie Pies Children’s Boutique, 5473 Chamblee Dunwoody Rd.
