Dunwoody's Police Explorers Take Second at State Championships

Local explorers take second overall in 25 team field

 Not two years old, the Dunwoody Police Explorers program is getting state recognition.

The Explorers took second place overall in the 7th Annual Explorer State Championship last Saturday. The competition included 25 teams from around the state.

They competed in seven scenarios, including a gang investigation, search warrants and traffic stops, among others, according to the Dunwoody Police Department.

The Dunwoody Explorers took 1st place in the obstacle course and gang investigation scenarios.

The local explorer group was formed in June of 2009. It is made up of boys and girls from ages 14 to 21 who have interested in careers in public safety.
