Dunwoody Sports Roundup
From a Thursday Night Dunwoody Wildcats game, to a volleyball fundraiser to a friendly, 3-on-3 basketball tournament.
The Dunwoody High School football team is off to a rough start with five games and as many losses.
The uphill climb from the bottom of the division standings will not get any easier this week - and t will be televised (albeit by tape delay.)
That could break good or bad for the team's pride. The team will face Martin Luther King Jr. High School in the "Thursday Night Game of the Week." Comcast airs it on Channel 248 and Charter on Channnel 127. (Unfortunately with an air time at 1 a.m. Saturday. Set the DVR)
The game is listed at 7 p.m. at North DeKalb High.
The bad news for the Wildcaste is that MLK is 5-0 and will be looking to showcase their talents in front of a rare television audience. The powerhouse MLK team is tied atop the 6-AAAAA standings.
Anyways: as far as Dunwoody's chances, stranger things have happened - and - as the saying goes - if you don't think you can win, then you shouldn't play.
Other Dunwoody school sport tidbits: DHS will perform in the game as part of the battle of the marching bands which could net the program $5,000.
- Dunwoody's Volleyball team are hosting a fundraiser at the popular Village Burger from 5 pm. to 9 p.m. A percentage of the sales goes to the sport and team.
- A three-on three basketball tournament is being hosted by Coach Adam Griffin on Oct 13. The winning team of the tournament will win tickets to an Atlanta Hawks basketball game (when the season starts) and bragging rights in the co-ed matchups. A king and a queen will be selected as MVPs. Register with Coach Griffin by Friday - which means tomorrow.
