Wednesday is the final day to drop off unwrapped gifts for the Dunwoody Police Department's annual Christmas for Kids program.
The event, in its third year, aims to help Dunwoody’s less fortunate children by making their Christmas a little brighter. This year, the Dunwoody Police Department, local businesses, and the Dunwoody community are working together to collect new, unwrapped toys and gifts for children from newborn to fifteen years old, and invite them to a private Christmas festival where the “magic” of Christmas will come alive with food, fun, and games. Of course, Santa and all his helpers will be there to personally deliver the gifts to each and every registered child.
Gifts can be dropped off at ten different locations throughout the city, including:
• North Atlanta Memorial Gardens
“The Christmas for Kids program has proven to be a great success over the past two years and we look forward to another chance of working with the community to help bring some joy and laughter to local Dunwoody kids who really need it,” said Dunwoody Police Chief Billy Grogan. “The tremendous support shown each year by our local businesses and community continues to give me great pride and gratitude to be a part of this City. It is our opportunity to think about the welfare of others, rather than ourselves.”
Last year, the Dunwoody community stepped up and enabled Christmas for Kids to help nearly 70 local children and their families as well as distribute toys to several local shelters, hospitals, schools, and churches in time for Christmas. The goal this year will be to help those families and organizations - and then some.
"Christmas for Kids is one of many special events in Dunwoody that showcases the warmth and generosity of this community,” said Sergeant Fidel Espinoza, Dunwoody Police Department. “CFK brings our community together to bring so much joy to many deserving children. It is a pleasure to once again reach Dunwoody’s less fortunate children and make their Christmases a little brighter.”
