Dunwoody hosts Police Explorers Academy
Students of police departments in Georgia learning the fundamentals of law enforcement in Dunwoody.
The Dunwoody Police Explorers are hosting the second annual Georgia Law Enforcement Explorer Academy this week, according to Dunwoody police.
The Explorer Academy program - for students pursuing the fundamentals of police work - is six days and five nights of Explorer training.
The training focuses on fundamentals of law enforcement, team building, leadership skills and character development.
This year's academy has 24 Explorers from police forces in Dunwoody, Acworth, Carrollton, Fulton, Roswell, Powder Springs, Sandy Springs and Canton, say Dunwoody Police.
The students will study history of law enforcement, Georgia state law, Georgia traffic law, crime scene investigation, principles of investigation, firearms training, defensive tactics and accident investigation.
The academy will hold a graduation at 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Atlanta.
