Bob Leavey, who opened D’Vine Wine Bar & Shop more than eight years ago, says he feels Dunwoody residents appreciate having the local wine shops, even though they aren’t all that easy to find.

“People tell me ‘I’ve been here in this shopping center many, many times, I’ve never seen your place,’” Leavey said. Once people find out about his shop or the E. 48th Street Market, they tend to return.

Leavey said the key to being successful is making the wines accessible and affordable.

“We offer, as do the other places, really good wines at reasonable prices,” he said. “We aren’t a snobby wine bar or wine shop. Most of my wines are below $20 a bottle

If I had expensive win by the glass, I’d go out of business.”

Leavey is close to E. 48th Street Market owner Charlie Augello.

“I send people down there when they can’t find an Italian wine they’d like. He sends people here,” Leavey said.

All three stores have wine tastings.
